American Airlines is looking to make a huge expansion to their international route map for 2022.
Beginning May 6th, 2022, American Airlines will launch a new route from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport direct to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. This will become the third non-stop American Airlines flight direct from the US to Tel Aviv to be added in less than a year. Back in the summer of 2021, the airline began daily non-stop service out of New York’s JFK Airport and then a month later launched a new service out of Miami International Airport flying three times a week year-round to this Middle Eastern country.
The Dallas/Tel Aviv direct flight is currently scheduled to be flown three times a week on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. This flight, which was originally announced all the way back in 2019, faced many delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Israel’s strict COVID entry rules that are often fluctuating.
As of January 9, 2022 vaccinated and recovered tourists from all countries are allowed to enter Israel, with the exception of unvaccinated children. All travelers to Israel must take a PCR test 72 hours prior to boarding, and then another PCR test at the airport upon arrival. Travelers must then quarantine for 24 hours or until they receive a negative result from the PCR test.
New Routes to Qatar
For tourists looking for desert safari adventures, unique museums, and beautiful landscapes, they will be pleased to hear that American Airlines is also looking to add another route in the Middle East. Beginning on June 4th, 2022 American will start non-stop service from New York’s JFK airport to Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. The airline is hoping to appeal to travelers looking to explore this region of the Middle East, as well connecting passengers to Africa, the Indian Ocean, and beyond. This flight will run every day seasonally from June to December. Currently, the airline’s Oneworld partner Qatar Airways, already operates several daily non-stop flights to Doha out of JFK.
With the announcement of American’s new service to Doha, the airline is hoping to continue their relationship with Qatar Airways, which is also part of the Oneworld alliance. Travelers have already benefited from this codeshare between the two airlines, allowing passengers access to varied destinations in the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia, and SouthEast Asia, which American currently does not serve.
Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer Thuerry Antinori stated, “We are looking forward to welcoming our Oneworld partner and friends at American Airlines to our home airport in Doha, recently voted the World’s Best Airport, and offer connectivity to numerous business and leisure destinations across the region and beyond.”
Currently, Qatar is allowing entry for all tourists, BUT with certain rules and regulations. Though, passengers can currently transit through the airport without any restrictions.
New Non-Stop Flight To India
If travelers are looking to fly to the Silicon Valley of India, they will be pleased to hear that American Airlines beginning next October will offer a direct flight from Seattle to Bangalore, India. This daily service will be the carrier’s longest route once it launches in the fall.
“India is a grossly underserved market, despite the number of businesses with a major presence in both India and the West Coast. By adding Seattle to Bangalore, we’re giving customers from more than 70 US cities access to India in one stop or less – versus the two, three, or four stops they’d have to make to get there in the past”, stated Vasu Raja, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Strategy.
Currently as of now, India is accepting both vaccinated AND unvaccinated travelers, but with various different rules or regulations.
With American Airlines expanding their international routes, travelers will be able to see many new exotic destinations on a single, direct flight — alleviating passengers from the added stress of connections and long layovers.
