Amit Shah to young voters in Goa

Panaji, Jan. 30 (PTI) Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah on Sunday appealed to youth in Goa to support BJP for their brighter future and peeked into Congress, saying young people will never know when Rahul Gandhi will go on vacation and the state government will destabilize in the coastal state.

While interacting with BJP social media volunteers in Vasco City, Shah, who paid a one-day visit to Goa for the February 14 elections, said that only the BJP can guarantee a better future for the youth.

Shah said Goa will be converted into an education center in the next five years, planning for which was done by the former prime minister, the late Manohar Parrikar and his successor Pramod Sawant.

He recalled that two months ago, the foundations were laid for a Forensic Science University in Goa.

“There are similar projects in the pipeline that have already been approved for Goa,” Shah said, adding that the coastal state has the potential to become the center of education due to its highest literacy rate.

Shah said the Modi government’s Startup program has been implemented in Goa and that more than 500 international-level startups would appear in the coastal state by 2025.

“If an IT hub is created or a mariner university is established, you will have job opportunities in Goa. That is why, I say, you all don’t have to go anywhere (another political party) because if you support Congress, you will never know when Rahul Baba will go on vacation and destabilize the government of Goa,” he said.

He was apparently referring to the political position of the Congress in Goa. The party has been hit hardest by defectors in the past five years.

Talking about industrial growth, Shah said that Goa is not a consumer state, and for this reason, the government should think about the investment that will help in the progress of Goa.

“That’s why we see tourism as a potential sector,” he said, adding that tourist influx will grow multifold after a second airport in Mopa comes into operation.

Mopa International Airport is expected to be commissioned in August 2022.

Shah said the Union government plans to develop trade and industry suitable for the Goa area.

“The BJP had taken up several works in the past ten years such as construction of new airport, shipyard modernization, maritime cluster etc. All this was done with the vision. Give us another five years and Goa’s industrial development will be faster than the jet speed,” he added. PTI RPS NSK NSK
