Things a Disney Vacation Planner Puts in a Suitcase and What Not to Bring

  • I am a professional travel planner who has been to Disney World 40 times.
  • I take rain gear, comfortable shoes and my Minnie Mouse ears with me when I travel.
  • I don’t believe you need much space in your suitcase to store snacks and pool towels.

After visiting Disney World over 40 times, I’ve become quite the expert at packing.

As a travel agent, Marvelous Mouse Travels As a specialist in Disney destinations, I am often asked what are the most important things to pack for a Disney vacation.

Read on to find out what I wear and what you can take with you.

You are more comfortable if you have a sturdy poncho.

If you’ve ever been to Orlando, you know full well that it’s likely to rain during your Disney trip.

Don’t let this stop you from having fun. Don’t forget your poncho and go to the parks.

If you don’t want to get your skin wet from attractions like Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids, you can wear a poncho.

A small but sturdy bag is essential for your trips to the parks.

I like small backpacks.

Any type of bag is possible when I visit the parks. I recommend that you bring a small bag that can hold your essentials.

A crossbody bag is my husband’s favorite, while I prefer a small purse, backpack or fanny pack.

You want something that you can put on and take off quickly and that is small enough to take with you on rides. It should also be big enough so that your phone and other essentials aren’t cramped.

It is easier to carry a small amount of sunscreen and hand sanitizer for the parks.

It is important to take light with you when traveling to the parks. Before every trip, I check my local grocery store’s travel department for the essentials: sunscreen, aloe vera gel, sanitizing wipes, and a mini first aid kit. I also have painkillers, tissues and painkillers.

All of these items are essential for my travels, but the smaller versions are too bulky and heavy for me to carry around the parks.

Disney gear and Minnie ears can be purchased in a variety of ways.

My rose gold ears are my favorite.

You can’t go on a Disney vacation without Minnie or Mickey ears.

There are so many to choose from depending on what season, holiday or mood I’m in right now. The rose gold Minnie ears are my favorite, but I’ve loved It’s a Small World and Haunted Mansion for a while now.

For every day I’m in the parks, I take one of my many Disney T-shirts with me. Every trip we get a special, matching family shirt.

I always make sure that my Disney jewelry, including my Pandora bracelets and Mickey earrings, are safe.

Disney World requires you to use your phone often, so portable chargers can be a life saver.

My Disney Experience app is essential for planning my day. In the middle of the morning I often realize how low my battery is.

It is essential for anyone using the park facilities to have a powerful yet compact battery pack.

It’s not worth missing the perfect photo opportunity or the next lightning-fast reservation.

I don’t think you can go to a park without waterproof, comfortable shoes

Working in parks can be tiring, so it’s important to take some time off.

Kari Becker

Going to Disney means a lot of walking – many days I log more than 10 miles. Frequent rain, water rides and other elements can make my shoes wet.

Comfortable, quick-drying shoes are important to me so that I don’t get blisters or sore feet.

My husband wears his Keen sandals all the time while I alternate between my Sanuks or Teva’s.

So we can send postcards to Magic Kingdom, I always have stamps in my bag

My family has made it a tradition to write a letter from the parks or send a postcard to someone’s home.

You can always bring postcards directly to your resort reception. You can also bring your postcards to the reception of your resort as a souvenir. But it’s more fun to leave it in one or all four mailboxes on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA.

Disney gift cards make budgeting in the parks easy

With the gift vouchers we buy souvenirs.

Disney gift cards are a great way to pay for everything at Disney World. This includes resort fees and merchandise.

There are many third-party retailers that offer small discounts when they purchase your items. This is a great way for you to save some money on your vacation.

To reduce overspending, we give each child a gift card at the beginning of each trip. This allows them to buy souvenirs.

But I don’t pack dresses for Disney vacations.

All Disney restaurants expect casual wear, except Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian Resort.

This aspect of Disney World is my favorite. There are great eateries that offer upscale food, yet are friendly to families.

When I want to be a little more chic, my husband and I usually have nicer casual clothes in our luggage. Our clothes usually stay at home.

If you are staying on site, you do not need to bring your own life jackets or beach towels.

My clients often ask me if they should bring towels or life jackets to their hotel pools.

These items are supplied by all Disney resorts, so you don’t have to put them in your suitcase.

While it can be tempting to pack your own snacks, it’s much easier to buy food when you arrive.

While it’s helpful to have some snacks in your hotel room or in your park bag for a quick snack, don’t forget to bring your own. You can have your groceries delivered directly to your Disney resort.

There are many options for delivery, including national and local services. Garden Grocer also offers local options. These deliveries can also be picked up in the lobby by calling the bell services or requesting baggage assistance.

You have to pay $6 if they are delivered directly to your room.
