DashPass is a membership offered by DoorDash, a wildly popular food delivery service that has grown in prominence as coronavirus restrictions have made in-home dining more appealing.

The money-saving potential offered by DashPass is noteworthy enough that its presence in Chase’s suite of benefits influenced which products we chose as the best credit cards for food delivery. DashPass offers free delivery and discounted service fees on orders $12 and above.

A year of free DashPass membership was previously offered with many Chase credit cards (including co-branded airline and hotel cards) — though most cards required that you enroll by March 31, 2022.

However, Chase has announced that complimentary DashPass privileges on select cards will be extended through December 31, 2024 — and Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders will even get a $5 in-app credit each month.

To activate membership, simply log into your DoorDash app and add an eligible Chase card as your default payment method. The app will take you from there.

After your card is enrolled, you’ll receive free membership through December 31, 2024. Even if you’ve previously registered your Chase card and since canceled the complimentary membership, you can re-enroll and resume your free trial.

Cardmembers will receive a minimum of 12 months of DashPass for free, depending on how long you wait to enroll. But if you register your card now, you’ll receive the next 35 months for free. DashPass costs $9.99 per month, so you could get nearly $350 in value from this complimentary membership (35 months at $9.99 a month).

Exclusive Chase Sapphire Reserve® benefits: From April 2022 through December 2024, cardholders who enroll in DashPass will also get a $5 monthly DoorDash in-app credit. These credits expire every three months, allowing you to accumulate up to $15 before redeeming. This adds another $175 in DoorDash value for Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders, and can help offset the card’s $550 annual fee.

If you’ve got any of the following no-annual-fee credit cards, you’re eligible for up to three free months of DashPass:

You’ve got until December 31, 2024, to enroll your card.

After your three free months expire, you’ll automatically be enrolled in a monthly membership for 50% off ($4.99 per month) if you don’t cancel. This discounted rate will last for nine months. If you still choose to keep your membership after nine months, you’ll be auto-enrolled in a standard DoorDash membership costing $9.99 per month.

Your potential DashPass value with these cards is nearly $75 — not too shabby for cards with no annual fee.

    Bottom line

Chase and DoorDash have extended their partnership, giving Chase Sapphire, Freedom, and Slate cardholders complimentary DashPass membership through December 31, 2024. Depending on how often you use DoorDash, DashPass can save you a lot of money. The membership costs $9.99 per month, so depending on the card you have, you could get a value of about $350 by enrolling now.

Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders will even receive a $5 credit each month to spend on food. Credits expire after three months, giving you the ability to use up to three credits together. Combined with the potential $350 in savings for membership fees, this extended partnership could net cardholders around $525 in value.
