Logan International Airport’s largest carrier ranked last in the publication’s Airline Scorecard, an annual ranking of nine major US airlines. Delta Air Lines was the best airline in 2021, according to the report. JetBlue, which ranked seventh last year, knocked American Airlines out of the bottom spot.

The report ranks the airlines by the following seven factors using information from the US Department of Transportation and masFlight: on-time arrivals, canceled flights, extreme delays, two-hour tarmac delays, mishandled baggage, involuntary bumping, and complaints.

JetBlue’s last-place ranking was “in part due to its delays and below-average performance in on-time arrivals,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

“Of JetBlue’s approximately 262,000 completed flights, 14.3 percent were delayed 45 minutes or longer, according to masFlight data,” The Wall Street Journal wrote. “Its on-time arrival rate was 69.9 percent, second-worst in that category, behind Allegiant Travel Co.”

JetBlue ranked last in extreme delays and two-hour tarmac delays, eighth in on-time arrivals and complaints, and seventh in mishandled baggage. Its best categories were canceled flights and involuntary bumping, where it ranked fourth for both.

A JetBlue spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that airport construction projects, bad weather, and an increase in staff sick calls in the Northeast due to the COVID-19 pandemic were all issues for the airline in 2021.

Earlier this month, UK-based travel analyst OAG released a list of the 10 most punctual airlines in the US and JetBlue ranked No. 10.
