Rhyl travel agency report record-breaking January

POLKA Dot Travel in Rhyl have announced record-breaking sales for the month of January, just four months after reopening.

The store, located on the High Street, originally opened in December 2017 and enjoyed immediate success in ensuring people got away on holiday.

However, with the pandemic putting such a strain on businesses, and with the travel industry coming to a standstill, they were forced to close for the next 18 months as restrictions in Wales forced them to further delay any return.

Since reopening in September 2021, they have gone from strength to strength, with January’s figures their best monthly performance since reopening their doors.

Joanne Roberts, Branch Manager at Polka Dot Travel, said: “It’s just been phenomenal, it quickly felt very busy after Christmas and that has just kept going and going.

“The positive news in January about the abolishment of return tests for the fully vaccinated was like a giant green light – we were open until almost 10pm that night booking customers.

“That positive news just gave our customers the confidence they needed to plan ahead.”

Company Director Helen Johnson added ‘We’ve been watching Rhyl with some excitement since Christmas.

“The store quickly hit record levels for the busiest January since opening.

“They’ve booked a record number of families, with the top selling destination being Turkey for 2022 and Florida for 2023.

“Jo and the team offer a wealth of experience which customers will find comforting when planning, booking and traveling on their holidays.”

With some customers having not traveled for almost three years, the wealth of experience on offer at Polka Dot Travel is encapsulated by their Branch Manager.

Ms Roberts have more than 30 years of travel experience along the North Wales coast and has been with Polka Dot Travel since 2016 having started in their first North Wales Coast store in Llandudno.

Having been an integral part of the Polka Dot expansion into North Wales since then, Ms Roberts added: “I quickly came to realize how passionate Polka Dot were about the Towns and High Streets that they opened on, it’s important to them to offer a bright , welcoming store on a high street and to provide employment to the local community.

“The quality of the team is just superb, with over 72 years between us we are able to offer our customers first hand expertise, we usually find that one of us has been there and experienced the area, something which gives our customers added confidence. ”
