Worthington City Council adds property for proposed boutique hotel to Community Reinvestment Area

A proposed boutique hotel in Worthington adjacent to the historic Snow House property at 41 W. New England Ave. is another step closer to development.

The property was added to the city’s Community Reinvestment Area by Worthington City Council on Feb. 7, clearing the way for developers to apply for a property-tax abatement from the city.

By doing so, developers could receive up to a 75% property-tax abatement on the property, which economic-development director David McCorkle previously told ThisWeek is the highest percentage offered by the city.

According to Kevin Rohyans with the New England Development Co., the development group behind the hotel proposal, the development is not financially feasible without a tax abatement.
