Eagles Travel to Volunteer State For Late Season Road Trip

Morehead State women’s hoops travels to the Volunteer State Wednesday to take on the UT Martin Skyhawks.

The Eagles fell to Murray State at Saturday’s matinee, 72-58. Julan McDonald recorded her fourth double-figure scoring performance in a row to lead the Eagles, pouring in 16 points and eight rebounds. Jada Claude put up 14 points to go alongside three rebounds and three assists, and Fredrionna Adams rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Eagles, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their 27 point halftime deficit.

The Skyhawks picked up their fifth win in the last six games against Austin Peay Monday. Junior guard Paige Pipkin led UT Martin with 15 points on the night. She was joined in double figures by Holly Forbes who tallied 13 points and nine rebounds.

• Morehead State has the third most blocks in the OVC, with 47 rejections during conference play. Julan McDonald leads the team with 23 blocks, and is 2nd in the OVC with 1.6 blocked shots per conference game.

• Last time against UT Martin, Jada Claude recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

• After four consecutive double-figure scoring performances, Julan McDonald has entered the top 25 in the OVC in scoring during conference play, averaging 10.0 points per game.

Terri Smith is currently tied for 3rd in the conference in made three pointers, cashing in 24 shots from long range an average 1.8 made threes per game.

Jada Claude sits 4th in the conference in both scoring and rebounding, with 15.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per conference game, which is also the highest totals among newcomers in the OVC.

• Freshman walk on Jazmyn Gaines Burns has started four of the last six games for Morehead State. In those games, Gaines-Burns has averaged 3.8 rebounds, with 13 of her 15 rebounds coming on the offensive end, including a career-high six offensive rebounds against Belmont.

• This season, against opponents the Eagles are seeing for the second time, their scoring output has increased by an average of 14.8 points per game and their scoring margin has improved by an average of 15 points per game.
