Discovery Bank has expanded into offering a travel service.

Discovery Bank, which is part of the Discovery Group, says its new Vitality Travel service offers substantial discounts on flights, accommodation, holiday packages and car hire.

The new service allows travelers to act as their own travel agents, as they can organize and book all their flights and accommodation through the same platform.

“We are building an integrated travel ecosystem to cover every aspect of planning your travel experience within Discovery Bank, from bookings to the Priority Fast Track service at the airport and lounge access,” says Hylton Kallner, CEO of Discovery Bank.

Vitality Travel says it provides access to all airlines, with discounts of between 10% and 75%. This includes over 40 local and regional flight destinations with new partners FlySafair, Airlink and LIFT for local flights, in addition to existing partners kulula.com and British Airways operated by Comair.

It also offers up to a 75% discount with its international flight partners Emirates, British Airways and Qantas. Travelers can also get up to 25% off on over a thousand accommodation options, from hotels and apartments to game lodges.

Discovery Bank clients also get up to 25% off car hire and up to 15% off holiday packages, including premium World Leisure Holidays properties, Contiki Tours, and Royal Caribbean cruises.

Travelers, however, will only get these discounts if they have Discovery Bank accounts.

Aside from booking travel arrangements through the new platform, it also allows travelers to acquire other travel related services like travel insurance and foreign currency conversion. They will also soon have access to a “digital vault” to store important documents.

“Our recently launched Forex accounts provide real-time access to foreign currencies in the palm of your hand with a multi-currency card to use while traveling abroad, and we will soon offer visa applications and travel insurance integration,” Kallner says.

Discovery Group is not new to travel. For years it has facilitated travel related services via Vitality, its health improvement incentive platform, where its clients could earn Discovery Miles, which then could be traded for discounts on travel related services.

The group says travel rewards will be based on engagement in its Vitality programs, as well as Discovery’s other products, and monthly qualifying card spend.

For now, Vitality Travel booking fees will be waived until the end of April 2022.

The move to offer a virtual travel agency sees the Discovery Group take on MTN, which owns Travelstart, a one-stop online travel service.
