Woman accused of holding daughter’s head underwater in Robinson Township hotel room bath tub

A woman is accused of holding her 1-year-old daughter’s head underwater in the bathtub of a hotel room in Robinson Township. Police said 22-year-old Rainelle Wolfe has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. According to the criminal complaint, it was reported to Robinson Township police that Wolfe had attempted to drown her child at the Drury Hotel.Police then conducted a welfare check on the child at the hotel. A witness told police she was inside Wolfe’s hotel room and the child had just soiled herself and Wolfe was upset about it. The witness said Wolfe slapped the child twice on the stomach then became “increasingly upset” with her and threw her into the bathtub. The witness told police the child was crying as Wolfe began running water and yelling at the child. When the water was approximately an inch or two high, the witness said Wolfe grabbed the child by the side of the head and pushed the other side to the bottom of the bathtub so that half of her face was partially submerged under the water. The witness told police the child began coughing water out of her nose and mouth after Wolfe allowed her back up. Wolfe then allegedly left the bathroom, leaving the child unattended in the bathtub with the water still running. The witness told police she had to turn the water off and got the child dressed. Allegheny County police later arrested Wolfe, and officers said she was believed to be under the influence during the arrest.
